Royal Caribbean has officially taken delivery of Legend of the Seas, the third vessel in its groundbreaking Icon Class fleet.
Built over the course of nearly two years at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the ship recently completed sea trials and is preparing for its inaugural season in Europe beginning in July 2026.
The handover was celebrated during a ceremony attended by Royal Caribbean Group Chairman and CEO Jason Liberty, Royal Caribbean President and CEO Michael Bayley, and Meyer Turku CEO Casimir Lindholm, along with more than 1,200 employees, partners, and guests. The event formally marked the transfer of the vessel from the shipyard to the cruise line.
Set to debut in July, the new release features:
● Seven sparkling pools
● The largest waterpark at sea
● 28 complimentary eateries
● Award-winning entertainment, including mind-blowing AquaTheater thrills, mesmerizing ice-skating spectaculars, and the Broadway musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
● SO MUCH MORE!
The ship is scheduled to begin seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona and Rome during its debut summer season. Later in the year, Legend of the Seas will reposition to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where it will offer six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Southern Caribbean itineraries beginning in November.
The new vessel is part of Royal Caribbean's long-term partnership with Meyer Turku, which secures shipbuilding capacity through 2036. The agreement includes additional Icon Class ships, with Icon 5 planned for delivery in 2028 and two more sister ships expected to join the fleet in 2029 and 2030.
