Disney Cruise Line has reached a historic milestone by promoting Maria Gotor to Captain of Disney Wish, making her the first female captain in the cruise line's history.

Gotor announced her promotion on social media on July 15, proudly sharing a photo of her new captain's epaulets. After joining Disney Cruise Line as Staff Captain in 2024, Gotor quickly became known for her leadership and passion for the company. She credits Disney's unique onboard culture for making it the happiest place she's worked.

Gotor's appointment is also a meaningful step forward for the cruise industry, where women remain significantly underrepresented in senior bridge positions. Her achievement has already inspired future generations, with young Disney fans sharing their excitement about sailing with the cruise line's first female captain.
