MSC Cruises has reached another exciting milestone as MSC World Asia embarks on its first sea trials, marking the final stages before its highly anticipated debut later this year.

The LNG-powered ship departed the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard on July 15 for a series of technical and operational tests. During the trials, engineers will evaluate everything from engine performance and maneuverability to fuel efficiency and onboard safety systems.

Celebrating the achievement on social media, MSC Cruises described the occasion as a significant step toward welcoming guests aboard: "A milestone worth marking. Our new World Class flagship has left the shipyard and taken to open water for the very first time, beginning the final phase of her journey toward her December debut." The cruise line also highlighted the ship's innovative engineering and thoughtfully designed public spaces, emphasizing its commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Following delivery later this fall, MSC World Asia will begin sailing the Western Mediterranean, welcoming its first guests in Barcelona on December 4, 2026. During its inaugural season, guests can enjoy seven-night cruises featuring some of the Mediterranean's most iconic destinations, including Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Rome, Messina and Valletta, with the convenience of embarking from multiple ports.

As the third ship in MSC Cruises' innovative World Class series, MSC World Asia follows the successful launches of MSC World Europa in 2022 and MSC World America in 2025. The fleet will continue to expand over the coming years, with five additional World Class ships scheduled to join the lineup through 2031, beginning with MSC World Atlantic in 2027.
